Major crime scene security outsourced in Dorset

Dorset Police has outsourced the guarding of major crime scenes to private security firm Securitas Ltd, and claim that this has led to the release of police officers to do other duties. The Dorset Police Force are attempting to achieve budget savings of £10m by March 2015, which has led them to consider outsourcing in this area, with the possibility of them extending it to other areas.

The BBC reported however that Dorset Police would not reveal the exact value of their contract with Securitas Ltd, as it was ‘commercially sensitive.’ To see the BBC article, please see ‘Dorset Police outsource crime scene guarding to Securitas’, BBC News, 30 September 2014.

The TUC will continue to campaign against the privatisation of our criminal justice system and call for an integrated, publicly owned system that puts people before profit and is accountable to the people and communities that it serves.

Please sign our petition calling on Secretary of State for Justice Chris Grayling MP and Home Secretary Theresa May MP to stop gambling with our justice system!

Justice is under attack
